Economical numbers???

There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.

Innovation is not invention

Sometimes, business innovation is confused with invention. You don’t need necessarily to “invent” something to be innovative in your business.

Kevin Kelly, in his book, “New Rules for the New Economy” said:

Wealth today flows directly from innovation not optimization. It is not gained but perfecting the known, but by imperfectly seizing the unknown.

Even in today’s economy this hold very true. I believe wealth is created by innovation, but must be maintained by optimization.

Leading by example is leadership

Example is not the main thing in influencing others. It is the only thing.

Are you getting used to stepping over dead bodies?

Views differ on the question of how fast you should move through times of changes. John Kotler, in his book, The Heart of Change, tells a story about a man who bought a fixer-upper home. The realtor advised the new home owner to make all the changes within 6 months, or else it will most likely never get done. The home owner responded by saying that he will make a list, but will get the house fixed over the next few years. Well, years passed and sure enough, the owner “got used” to how things are, and never got it fixed.
